Terms of Service

The service

Retain, operated by Retain Systems LLC, lets creators turn their educational content into a learning workspace with daily questions, lessons, streaks, XP, and a weekly league, and lets learners join those workspaces. Creators own and are responsible for the content they publish. Retain provides the platform.

Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to use Retain.
Keep your email account secure. Sign-in codes sent to it act as your password.
Choose a display name that is not offensive and does not impersonate someone else. Creators may remove members who break their community’s rules.
You can delete your learner account at any time from Settings in the app.

Subscriptions, trials, and cancellation

Some workspaces are free. Others require a monthly or annual subscription set by the creator and shown before you subscribe.
Payments are processed by Stripe on the creator’s behalf. Retain keeps a platform fee and the remainder is paid to the creator.
If a workspace offers a free trial, your card is collected up front and the first charge happens when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time from Settings → Manage subscription in the app. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds are handled case by case together with the creator. Contact support@buildretain.com.
Prices may change. Creators must give existing subscribers notice before a price change takes effect on renewal.

Content

Creators keep ownership of what they publish and grant Retain a licence to host, display, and deliver it to their members.
Creators are responsible for having the rights to their content and for making sure it is accurate, lawful, and not harmful.
Learners may use content for personal learning only. Do not copy, resell, or redistribute a creator’s content.
Retain may remove content or close workspaces that break these terms or the law.

Community comments

Members can comment on a workspace’s daily question. By commenting you agree to keep it respectful and on topic. There is no tolerance for harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, spam, or anything unlawful. Comments are checked by automated moderation before they are posted and can be reported by any member; reported comments may be hidden and reviewed, and repeat offenders lose access. You can block another member at any time, which hides everything they write from you. Contact support@buildretain.com to report abuse; we act on reports within 24 hours.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break, overload, or reverse engineer the service, access other people’s data, cheat leagues with automation, or use Retain for anything unlawful.

Creators and payouts

Creators receive payouts through Stripe Connect and must complete Stripe’s onboarding and comply with the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Retain’s platform fee and hosting plan are described in the dashboard when you go live. Creators are responsible for any taxes on their earnings.

Termination

You can stop using Retain at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, and creators may remove members from their workspace. If a creator closes a paid workspace, remaining subscriptions are cancelled and no further charges are made.

Disclaimers and liability

Retain is provided as is. We do not guarantee that any content is accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Retain Systems LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid through Retain in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and continued use after that means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Retain Systems LLC is organised. Questions: support@buildretain.com.
